Custom Canvas to Carry and Protect your Stuff

I started sewing twenty years ago  when I first priced a canvas sail cover for my sailboat. I was shocked at the price the first shop I went to quoted for the cover. The shop owner pointed across the room at a stack of Sailrite catalogs. I bought my first sewing machine and material to start refurbishing my sailboat.

Marine Canvas Work

My first project was a cover for my sail. For the money I would have paid the shop I bought a sewing machine and enough material to  make the cover. After that I started making everything for my 27 foot sailboat. First I made more covers; for the tiller, the compass, all the boat parts that needed protecting from the sun. I then redid the cabin; new curtains new cushions and some storage bags.

After 20 years of owning my boat  I have sewn anything that can be made from material  including dodger, Bimini, interior and exterior cushions, awning and three sails

The First Bender Bag

I made my first "Bender'Bag" in December of 2016. It was almost Christmas and I was to participate in a gift swap with my wife's family.

I was dreading shopping for something until my wife suggested that I make something with my sewing machine.

That was the first Bender'Bag. I liked it so much I made one for myself. I found the bag very useful and began making BenderBags for all my friends and family.

Philosophy

A bag allows you to hold something in a certain way. A sail holds the wind. Awnings, Bimini's, dodgers, and covers hold out the weather.  A tote bag holds your groceries or beach towels.

I like the creativity and care it takes to build a quality canvas project. I think of each bag or cover I make as both useful and a work of art.  I start with the highest quality  materials appropriate for the purpose.  I carefully cut and sew each piece with attention to strength and longevity.

I've created hundreds of bags and covers over the last twenty years . I love the challenge of figuring out how to turn a two dimensional  fabric into a useful three dimensional cover or container.

How can I help you carry and protect your stuff?
